EastEnders and Dad's Army star Ian Lavender laid to rest after emotional funeral service

Ian Lavender was laid to rest in a moving funeral service in a small village in west Suffolk on Thursday, with touching tributes to his most famous role in Dad's Army.The actor, who was best known for playing Private Pike in Dad's Army, sadly passed away at the age of 77. He was the last surviving member of the main Dad's Army cast before his death was announced on 5th February.The funeral included heartbreaking nods to the character he played in the BBC series, and the coffin of the Birmingham-born actor was draped in the colours of his favourite football club, Aston Villa, and mourners were treated to emotional performances from well-known names.

Ben Shephard took a cheeky swipe at Michael Ball on Good Morning Britain as he interviewed his close pal Alfie Boe and Sarah Brightman.During Friday’s instalment of the popular ITV breakfast show, the 47-year-old and his co-host Kate Garraway welcomed the professional singers onto the show to discuss their latest collaboration to mark the Platinum Jubilee next month.The pair teamed up to share their remake and stellar duet of the national anthem God Save The Queen and hope that their new track will reach number one to mark Her Royal Highness’ 70th year on the throne.But the dad-of-three couldn’t help but bring up his West End pal as he asked whether the star has been coping well after being left out of the epic duet.After discussing the new single, Sarah apologised to Michael on air which led to the TV presenter asking what he thought of their hit song.He pointed out: “There’s an elephant in the room, or not in the room as it were” which was met with a swarm of ‘Ohhs’ in the studio at the scathing remark on air.Kate warned him: “Ohhh he won’t like that” before she added: “Oh Michael I don’t think you’re an elephant.”As he awkwardly chuckled at her scolding comment, he apologised to the star, adding: "I didn't mean it like that, it's a common phrase."Attempting to rescue Ben from the awkward moment, brunette beauty Sarah interjected with: “He’s a cuddly bear” which the broadcaster agreed before he moved on with the topic.But his 55-year-old co-star wasn't quick to forget his comment as she concluded the interview saying: "I don't think you're in his good books." He moved on to ask: "Boe and Brighton has a good ring to it - how does Mr Ball feel about this?" Alfie joked: "He's having sleepless nights.

Holly Willoughby blamed for ITV flop show The Game's low ratings
Holly Willoughby helped cause her flop show The Games to lose even more viewers.The presenter is currently fronting the nightly celebrity sports show on ITV which launched on Monday with just 2million viewers.However on Tuesday (May 10) it lost a further 500,000 fans.One of the reasons for the dip was because The Games clashed in the schedules at 9pm with Holly’s rival BBC One show Freeze The Fear.The programme – featuring the stars such as Alfie Boe and Dianne Buswell in icy challenges in the Alps – drew 1.8 million viewers.The Games – which has the likes of Christine McGuinness and Ryan Thomas competing in sports events – trailed behind on 1.5million.It means the ITV show has lost 500,000 viewers in just 24 hours.Fans have not taken to The Games which was revived by the station this year after being axed by Channel 4 back in 2006.Holly and co-presenter Freddie Flintoff have been presiding over the programme which features live action and chat along with pre-recorded footage.Viewers have blasted the show with comments such as “If this was on the BBC I’d demand my money back”, “This reboot is a bit naff” and “This rubbish is on prime time every night this week”.For more of the latest showbiz news from Daily Star, make sure you sign up to one of our newsletters here.Others moaned about the fact that Holly never seems to be off the box.Comments included “I am sick of seeing her on everything”, “Turned off when I saw she was on it” and “Is no one else available to host this?”ITV says of The Games: “The competition builds across this week, before the winner is crowned in Friday’s final show.”
