Paul Scholes couldn't help but point the finger of blame at three people connected to Manchester United for the manner of Istanbul Basaksehir's first goal on Wednesday.

Former Newcastle and Chelsea forward Demba Ba, now 35, was given the freedom of the United half to run completely free and unchallenged and open the the scoring for the Turkish champions, who went on to win the game 2-1.

Ba's goal had come from a United corner, and the manner of the Basaksehir break left Scholes bemused. Searching for answers, the United legend said that assistant coach Mike Phelan, goalkeeper Dean Henderson and midfielder Nemanja Matic all could have done more. "It's comical.
