Wayne Rooney has revealed that Sir Alex Ferguson "hated" the manner in which Manchester United beat Barcelona in the semi-final of the Champions League in 2008 on their way to winning the trophy.

An unusually defensive United drew the first leg 0-0 away from home, and a 14th minute Paul Scholes thunderbolt at Old Trafford was enough to see them through to the final, where they defeated Chelsea on penalties to win their second Champions League title.
