Manchester United have spent almost £33million sacking managers since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club in 2013. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s future at Old Trafford has been put in doubt after fresh reports emerged that Ed Woodward has again approached Mauricio Pochettino to become United’s new manager.
It was far from coincidental that Pochettino appeared on Monday Night Football also. Solskjaer would be the fourth managerial casualty at the club since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.
Terminating contracts early doesn’t come cheap. The sackings of David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho cost Manchester United a combined total of £32.9m, according to the club’s accounts.
