A vile paedophile who was part of a Huddersfield child abuse ring has become the 35th member of the gang to be jailed. Sentences totalling 380 years have been handed to the various members of the gang after Operation Tendersea, a multi-agency investigation into historic child sexual exploitation, exposed the years-long string of crimes.
Manzoor Akhtar, 31, has been sentenced to more than four years in jail for raping a young girl he had groomed when she was just 13.
Leeds Crown Court heard that Akhtar sexually assaulted the victim during 2005 and 2006. Another man, Shaqeel Hussain, has had 12 months added to an eight-year prison sentence handed out at a previous trial for raping a 14-year-old girl.
