Frustrated police have called on people to stay away from parts of the south coast after thousands of sun lovers caused "gridlock" on the hottest day of the year so far.
Officers in Devon said parking wardens were running out of tickets people from all over the converged on the seaside to bask in the warm weather.
With social distancing rules still in place despite some aspects of the lockdown being relaxed in England, locals have accused the government of "throwing North Devon under a bus".
It comes after the Met Office confirmed today is the hottest day of the year so far - with the mercury reaching 27.8C at Heathrow today.
