North Korea are cracking down on leather trench coats, seizing them in the street because they claim it is disrespectful to copy Kim Jong-un's style.The iconic look became popular in 2019 after the tyrant appeared on TV donning the trench coat.
Another leather-clad TV appearance from Kim Jong-un and his cronies this year did little to curb enthusiasm for the coats.Since they became popular, real leather coats have been imported from China for the country's elite, and fake leather items came in droves for others.
Now, North Korea's authorities have taken on the role of fashion police and are literally taking the clothes off people's backs.
