Nicola Sturgeon has promised she will work with Anas Sarwar’s Labour to help rebuild Scotland in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. In an exclusive interview on the eve of the Holyrood election, she signalled a new co-operative approach as First Minister saying: “I’ll work with Labour on good ideas” The First Minister admitted having “dark days” over the last 12 months as she dealt with the virus and the fallout with her former mentor Alex Salmond.She admits the twin crises left her “stretched to her limits” – but she says she “did not break”.

SNP would still be the biggest party in the Holyrood chamber, however they would be short of achieving a majority. According to the Savanta ComRes poll for The Scotsman, the SNP would return 59 MSPs which is six seats short of having a majority in the parliament.

Nicola Sturgeon today confirmed that her “number one priority” is keeping Scotland safe from coronavirus. It comes after Alba, a rival pro-independence party headed by Alex Salmond, called for action on independence immediately after next month’s Holyrood election.
