Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson Hon FRIBA (born 19 June 1964) is a British politician, writer, and former journalist serving as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Conservative Party since 2019. He was Foreign Secretary from 2016 to 2018 and Mayor of London from 2008 to 2016. Johnson was Member of Parliament for Henley from 2001 to 2008 and has been MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip since 2015. Ideologically, Johnson identifies as a one-nation conservative.

Boris Johnson’s proposal to offer everyone in England free, twice-weekly tests from Friday is a “really strong idea”. In Scotland the tests are only available in limited settings, for example in schools and at high-risk workplaces.A Scottish government spokeswoman said: “Scotland’s Testing Strategy will support the easing of restrictions and a return to everyday activities in Scotland.”“Existing testing routes will continue, and be expanded, to help suppress covid-19 to the lowest possible level, alongside other measures such as vaccination and the levels system.“This includes expanding the existing testing routes that are in place in hospitals, care homes, and schools, as well as wider community testing to spot asymptomatic cases in high.
