Liam James Payne (born 29 August 1993) is an English singer and songwriter.
He rose to fame as a member of the boy band One Direction.
Payne made his debut as a singer when he auditioned for the British television series The X Factor in 2008. After being eliminated as a solo performer, he auditioned again in 2010 and was put into a group with four other contestants to form One Direction
Niall Horan says he "felt like a prisoner" at some points during his time in One Direction. The singer, 27, shot to unimaginable heights of fame after auditioning on X Factor in 2010 as a 16-year-old.
His life changed forever when Simon Cowell put him in the band alongside Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Liam Payne.
The boys went on to become one of the biggest boy-bands of all time, so it's safe to say their freedom was compromised. In 2015, Zayn quit the group, with the rest of the band taking an extended hiatus the following year. They then returned as a foursome, before eventually all going on to launch extremely successful solo careers.
