Niall Horan has admitted that he "struggled" with the attention of One Direction fans during the band's heyday and that he 'felt like a prisoner' as they became famous across the globe.

The 27-year-old Irish singer has opened up about his time with the band in Dermot O'Leary's podcast, People, Just People. Niall made up one fifth of the boy band, along with Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson.

They were put together on The X Factor in 2010 after they auditioned individually. The band has been on a hiatus since 2016, with the members all launching solo careers in the wake of it.
