Mere announced plans to open its first UK stores – and now the time has come. The Grocer reports a number of locations in the UK will open the new retailer.
And it hopes to unveil up to 300 supermarkets this year.But the first store to open in a former Nisa is in Preston's Ribbleton.
A post on Mere's official Facebook page shows the store will open at 10am on Saturday August 14, The Sun reports. The page also revealed a second store in Caldicot and a third in Castleford are due to open, although no dates were given.
Mere's openings will put the budget retailer head-to-head with German chains.Aldi and Lidl, which are often crowned the cheapest supermarkets, could be the new store's biggest rivals.
