An inclusive outdoor play park named after a local girl with cerebral palsy has opened to great fanfare at North Inch in Perth.

Maisie Moo’s Play Park, inspired by 12-year-old Maisie Wilkie, has been designed to have accessible equipment so that every child can be included in playtime.Maisie Moo Magical Moments has been striving for a number of years to ensure the provision of equipment accessible to children with a disability or other additional support needs, to open up play opportunities for them.The group was formed as Maisie was diagnosed with cerebral palsy when she was a baby and her parents struggled to find a park that she could play in due to her having to rely on a wheelchair.

The project’s delivery was in collaboration with PKC and followed astonishing fundraising by Maisie Moo of £103,000 as well as £53,000 in grants allocated in the council’s Capital Programme.

Work began on constructing the activity zone in November 2021 and was completed this March.The play area features a wheelchair-friendly trampoline, wheelchair-friendly swing and seesaw as well as specially-designed sensory experiences and picnic benches.Wildflower meadows and a sand play area can also be enjoyed by all local children.Maisie’s mother Claire Wilkie and friend Katherine Mckay together led Maisie Moo Magical Moments and the immense fundraising success it achieved.Claire said: “It’s been a rollercoaster getting there but we are super proud to see it finally completed and can’t wait to see it fully utilised."I just want to say thank you to everyone that has supported us over these past few years."Katherine from Maisie Moo Magical Moments added: “We are a small community group which was created to help children with additional and complex
