Manchester United only spent one training session working on the tactics used in their battering by Liverpool last month.The Red Devils suffered an embarrassing defeat in the Premier League to their traditional rivals in April.
They were outclassed from start to finish and went on to lose the game 4-0 in what was very much a continuation of their lacklustre season.But it has now been revealed that the players had just one training session to prepare for the tactics used against the Premier League title contenders.
According to The Athletic, the 3-4-3 Ralf Rangnick deployed was almost completely off the cuff.United lined up with a back three consisting of Harry Maguire, Phil Jones and Victor Lindelof, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot operating as the two-wing backs.
Unsurprisingly, they were run ragged by a well-drilled Liverpool who have spent years perfecting their 4-3-3 formation.A source told The Athletic: “Each player needs to know their job and everyone else’s, so if someone doesn’t perform a task they get called out collectively.
