Child Disability Payment is a new benefit from Social Security Scotland that is replacing Disability Allowance Child (DLA Child) in 2021.
The new benefit will provide additional financial support to children and young people with disabilities, as well as their families, to help with the additional costs they incur as a result of having a long-term health condition.
Families currently getting DLA Child payments from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will start to be transferred to the new Scottish system this year.
However, Social Security Scotland has confirmed that families of children living in Dundee City, Perth and Kinross and the Western Isles will be able to apply for the new benefit from summer 2021.
