Netflix has pulled the plug on Turkish drama If Only after authorities intervened and demanded a gay character be removed from the show.

According to THR, Turkey, “citing the existence of a homosexual supporting character in the script, refused to issue a filming license.

Instead of censoring the script, Netflix has decided to pull the series altogether.” Stay tuned as we learn more on this story.

A Netflix rep noted that other shows with LGBTQ characters like Orange Is the New Black or Ryan Murphy‘s Hollywood have not been censored by the Turkish government and air in full there.
