Kylie Minogue didn't say much in the Neighbours finale because she didn't want to "overshadow" the rest of the cast, it has been revealed.The pop princess, 54, returned to Ramsay Street last month when the soap bowed out after 37 years, alongside Jason Donovan and several other former cast members.However, some fans couldn't understand why Kylie and Jason's characters - Charlene and Scott - didn't have much to say beyond "home sweet home".READ MORE: Neighbours fans beg for reboot as final episode attracts three million viewersSome speculated that the A-listers might have been being paid by the word, which could have explained their limited dialogue.But executive producer Jason Herbison has now explained to TV Tonight: "Our discussions with Jason and Kylie were always about making a small appearance.
They didn't want to overshadow the current cast or make the finale about them."He also said the Erinsborough legends shot their finale scenes before the episode had been written, so whatever they filmed needed to be able to fit in with that."I hate to see Kylie copping any criticism – she was nothing short of amazing on the day," he added.The Aussie soap started in 1985 and propelled the likes of Kylie and Jason to fame.The pair and their onscreen romance were a huge part of the soap's early days and in 1988 a whopping 19.8million UK viewers tuned in to watch Scott and Charlene tie the knot.They and other old cast members like Natalie Imbruglia and Margot Robbie jumped at the chance to reprise their roles for one last time when it was announced that the soap was being dropped from schedules.For more of the latest showbiz news from Daily Star, make sure you sign up to one of our newsletters here.The Neighbours finale aired.
