The Japanese tennis star — who is currently the highest-paid female athlete in the world — took the court at USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York on Tuesday for her quarterfinal matchup, sporting a black face mask emblazoned with the name “George Floyd.” Floyd, a 46-year-old Minneapolis man, died on May 25 after police officer Derek Chauvin pressed his knee into Floyd’s neck for eight minutes and 46 seconds.
