A violent mum who glassed and scarred a woman in a city centre bar has had her jail sentence increased by Appeal Court judges.
Rachael Marland was jailed earlier this year after a “callous” attack that left her victim with permanent facial scarring and “long-lasting psychological pain”.
Marland, 36, initially denied wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and ran a trial. But she was convicted by a jury and was jailed for two and a half years during a sentencing hearing at Manchester Crown Court back in February this year.
However, the Solicitor General, Rt Hon Michael Ellis QC MP, referred the case to the Court of Appeal stating that Marland’s sentence was too low.
