A single mum of five children, two of whom are disabled, says they have lost out on months of learning because they cannot get to school.

Rehana Saleem has blasted the lack communication between the council and families after her kids have missed out on schooling due to needing specialist transport to get there.

The 38-year-old has a 14-year-old son Ammar and a five-year-old daughter Attiqah who were both born with congenital muscular dystrophy.

Both children need wheelchair assistance to get to and from school as a result of their condition. Rehana says in March 2019 she was instructed there was no longer an escort available for Ammar because they hadn’t been trained in suction - the ability to clear Ammar’s airways.
