Only Fools and Horses.But Tessa Peake-Jones and Gwyneth Strong - who played Raquel and Cassandra - have revealed they were only ever set to star in one episode of the show in 1988.Thanks to their popularity they remained a part of the cast until its end.

Appearing on Loose Women this week, Gwyneth said: “We thought it was exciting to do one episode and it went from there.”But they are not the only much-loved characters we almost never got to know, as Nadine Linge reveals.

One of EastEnders’ most famous matriarchs, viewers almost missed out on those outrageous earrings and ballsy attitude. Pam St Clement was only booked for three episodes in 1986 as the brassy ex-wife of Pete Beale.

A hit with viewers, she ended up staying for 25 years. It was only Michelle Keegan’s first acting job, so no wonder she was only meant to be a temporary love interest for David Platt.
