Mrs Brown’s Boys star Brendan O'Carroll says if comedians don’t cause offence, they are not doing their job.His TV character Agnes Brown is starring in the Netflix special A Madea Homecoming.O’Carroll appears alongside Star Trek actor Tyler Perry who also dresses up as a woman called Mabel 'Madea' Earlene Simmons.

The cross-dressing comedy is littered with BLM and anti-woke jokes as the cast of black characters mistake the Irish Mammy’s language for racism - mishearing the word "knickers" for "n * s" and getting upset with terms like "cotton picking" and "proud boy".

Asked if the puns would upset "the wokes", O’Carroll said: "It’s easy to understand that some people do get offended by things but that is why there is a remote control for the TV and that is why the cinema door swings both ways."Personally, I feel if you are not offending somebody we are not doing our job."Perry added: "There is somebody saying 'You can’t say this or that'. "I wanted to make something that will make us laugh but also address serious subjects." O'Carroll’s comments come after his appearance on BBC's The One Show on Tuesday. As he appeared via video-link with presenters Lauren Laverne and Harry Judd, Brendan was asked whether he would ever invite Tyler Perry to appear on Mrs Brown's Boys.In response, the 66-year-old Irish actor said: "I don't know if we can afford him, he's very expensive and so far, we haven't had anyone of his colour in there."He added: "So I don't know if we could have him in but I'd love that."More importantly, I'd love to do another movie with him."Tyler laughed: "Nobody my colour.
