Even for the most accomplished of chefs, serving meals to the Queen must surely be a daunting task. Since donning the crown in 1953, Her Majesty has enjoyed many meals at Buckingham Palace, cooked by a team of world-class chefs.

It’s rare for the Queen to snub one of her many dishes, but one day it all went wrong. According to Charles Oliver, her former royal servant, the Queen once found a dead slug on her dinner plate.
