Charles, Prince of Wales (Charles Philip Arthur George; born 14 November 1948) is the heir apparent to the British throne as the eldest son of Elizabeth II. He has been Duke of Cornwall and Duke of Rothesay since 1952, and he is the oldest and longest-serving heir apparent in British history.

William and Kate are Queen's 'insurance policy' as 'major changes approach', author says

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge “offer an insurance policy” for the Queen, a royal expert claims. Following an overnight stay in hospital that forced the Queen to cancel a visit to Northern Ireland, the 95-year-old monarch is reportedly back at her desk working on “light duties”.

And according to Margaret Holder, the Queen’s decision to continue working despite her age and health concerns is a way of safeguarding the future of her family. “By performing her duties in her advanced years, she is protecting her legacy while lining up the future of the monarchy,” she said.

Although Prince Philip was 96 when he stepped down from royal duties, it is clear that the Queen, at 95, is showing no signs of stopping.
