More of the fugitive billionaire's collection is auctioned off ahead of his five-day extradition trial in May This time last year, we reported on the first sales by the Indian Tax Recovery Office of valuable works of art in the collection of Nirav Modi, the fugitive billionaire.

Modi had been accused of defrauding the state-run Punjab National Bank to the tune of $2 billion – described as the biggest banking fraud in the country’s history.

It was the Telegraph who tracked him down to an £8 million apartment in the West end in 2019 and sixty-eight of his Indian paintings, with an estimated value of $5 million (£3.9 million), were sold by Indian art auctioneers Saffronart in Mumbai for $8 million.
