Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage (born March 5, 1963), better known by his stage name Joe Exotic, is an American former zoo operator, internet personality, musician, and convicted felon. The former owner and operator of the Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park (a.k.a. G. W. Zoo) in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, Maldonado-Passage had claimed to be the most prolific breeder of tigers in the United States. He twice unsuccessfully ran for public office, first for President of the United States in 2016 as an independent, and then for Governor of Oklahoma in 2018 as a Libertarian.

Boxing legend Mike Tyson reckons his tigers might have come from Netflix sensation Joe Exotic. The former heavyweight is a huge fan of big cats and became famous for collecting the beasts in the 1990s.

And Tyson has now revealed that he’s an admirer of Exotic, who has shot to fame in recent weeks. "People always say these people are scumbags,” he explained. “But these are amazing people with what they can do with their ingenious minds and control over other people’s minds.

These guys are born leaders." Exotic has become a cult figure following the Netflix documentary about his zoo and subsequent demise.
