Met Office says when and where 'severe' snow will fall in the UK

A blanket of mist and fog has covered much of the UK since Boxing Day with those conditions set to continue. In Greater Manchester, mist is forecast across the region throughout the day (December 27) with temperatures expected to peak around 6C or 7C around early afternoon.

However, some parts of Greater Manchester will see thick fog at times. Bolton and Oldham are forecast for the most severe foggy conditions this morning, according to the Met Office.

But things are predicted to change yet again as we head towards the new year. The Met Office has warned that 'severe' snow could hit parts of the UK next week as temperatures are set to plummet.

After a mild Christmas, much colder conditions are forecast to arrive before the new year, with snow likely to fall in some places.
