Met Office's grim Greater Manchester weather forecast for the weekend

It is likely to be a murky but dry weekend across Greater Manchester, forecasts suggest. The Met Office has warned of possible snow, ice and freezing rain across parts of northern England and Scotland today (Saturday).

But forecasters say our region is set to miss the worst of these conditions. Here, it is expected to remain largely dry if gloomy and bitterly cold In inner city areas, detailed forecasts show it is likely to remain overcast for most of Saturday and Sunday.

Temperatures will peak at around five degrees Celsius but will feel between 2 and 3C, the Met Office says. On higher ground, such as Uppermill in Saddleworth, it will even cooler, with temperatures peaking at around 3C and feeling like freezing.

There it will remain misty and foggy throughout Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday, temperatures will max out at around 3C and feel as cold as minus 3 on higher ground.
