Almost entirely blocking the pavement, a shop doorway AND a pedestrian crossing. This van driver in Bury is surely in the running for some of the inconsiderate parking Greater Manchester has ever seen.
Police shared a photo of the Mercedes squeezed between a row of shops and the railings on the footpath on Walmersley Road. After being slapped with a traffic offence report the driver was told the move the van.
In a statement on Facebook police said: "One of note was this van parked on Walmersley Road, not only was it obstructing the footpath entirely they also decided to park within the limits of a pedestrian crossing, the driver of this vehicle was issued with a ticket and had to move his van! "We ask that drivers are careful with where they park, the white zig-zag lines at pedestrian crossings are there to ensure nobody parks in a way that can limit visibility of pedestrians at the crossing." Dozens of people commented on the post expressing their frustration at bad parking.
Jospeh Roantree replied: "Shouldn't be parking on the pavement in the first place as a wheelchair user I get really frustrated when this happens." Paula Kuca wrote: "This road must be the worst in that area.
