After being shivering through weeks of frost, storms and weather warnings, next weekend Greater Manchester could be warmer than Corfu, Met Office forecasters say.
Temperatures in the region are forecast to hit a balmy 14C on Friday - way above the the average for this time of year. It comes after much of the UK has seen 'anticyclonic gloom' over the past week, causing dull skies, with some areas not having seen the sun in more than a week.
In Manchester temepratures look set to steadily rise through the week, peaking on Friday, when the region will be warmer than the several places in mainland Europe, including Corfu and Venice.
But while much of the UK looks set to finally see some sunshine, here in Greater Manchester conditions are forecast to remain cloudy and overcast.
