Marvel's Vachik Mangassarian dies aged 78 after Covid complications as tributes pour in

Marvel actor Vachik Mangassarian has died aged 78 due to complications with his health brought on by Covid-19, it has been reported.He died on Saturday in Burbank, Los Angeles, his manager Valerie McCaffrey of McCaffrey Talent Management has said.

The actor starred in Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., Curb Your Enthusiasm, NCIS and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.The Hollywood actor was born in Iran in 1943.

Of Armenian descent, he moved to the US aged 23 and worked as a waiter before breaking into the acting world, eventually landing a gig as a theatre actor.His first big role was in The South’s Shark in 1978 and his career continued into the 1980s, with appearances in The Fall Guy, The A-Team and Murder She Wrote, before working on NYPD Blue.Throughout the 2010s he also worked on Murphy Brown, Falcon Crest and Jack And The Fatman.He played Morteza Ramazani, the father of a wrongly accused woman facing the death sentence in the 2008 film The Stoning Of Soraya M, alongside Academy Award nominee and fellow Marvel actress Shohreh Aghdashloo.He play Qasim Zhaglul in Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., a fan favourite television series about the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division.

The series was the first to be set in the Marvel Comic Universe and follows a group of agents that investigate and handle strange cases.
