Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes his side is tasked with facing the "best team in a long time" as their Premier League title battle with Manchester City intensifies.
After being the two leading contenders for the title in recent years, City and Liverpool have gone toe-to-toe in pursuit of the top step of English football's podium once again this season, with the former currently holding a nine-point advantage at the summit.
However, Liverpool, despite being almost ten points behind them in the standings, remain firmly in the race for their second Premier League crown in three years.
Although it remains possible that Liverpool can bridge the gap on Pep Guardiola's side, Klopp, who believes he has a better squad with him now than what he had at Borussia Dortmund, reckons he and his players are competing with a very special City side, insisting it is the "best team in a long time." "It would be a shame after seven years if they didn’t get what I tell them, or a miracle to survive as a manager if they didn’t do that," Klopp said, as quoted by The Independent. "We grew together as a group and as a team.
