Martin Brundle admits he hates doing iconic F1 gridwalk chats after Miami GP blunders
dailystar.co.ukFormula One driver turned pundit has become a regular fixture in the gridwalk for Sky Sports pacing through the mess of people to grab a quick word with those on the grid which includes celebrities, royalty and social media influencers.Unfortunately, it proves to be one of the toughest jobs to do in F1 as not everyone is up for a chat and Brundle can't be expected to know every celebrity he bumps into - but it does make for some amusing viewing.Brundle found himself trending on Twitter ahead of the race following his latest blunders, where he mistook basketball player Paolo Banchero for Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.To his credit, Banchero was happy to answer the questions, with Brundle then encountering more head-scratching moments when DJ Khaled signed off with his famous 'another one catchphrase' while Pharrell Williams plugged some watches.
Brundle was also blanked by tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams, while his attempts to get a quick word from Manchester United legend David Beckham were unsuccessful with the ex-driver admitting it was the second time he was blanked, though he finally got a quick word.
Unsurprisingly, Brundle has now admitted that he dislikes doing them entirely by posting on Twitter: "There’s a reason why I’ve never watched back an F1 gridwalk in a quarter of a century of doing them.
