Formula One driver Martin Brundle has recalled a remarkable story that led to him being 'sent home' from a Monaco Grand Prix after missing a weigh bridge.

F1 officials regularly call cars and their drivers to be weighed in the pit lane during qualifying sessions, to ensure they are not breaching the strict regulations, and significant penalties can be issued if a driver doesn't adhere to the instructions.

Ahead of the 2022 Monaco Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc was shown being pushed back to the weigh bridge in the pit lane by his Ferrari crew after missing his call to weigh the car - where he would have been punished if he made it to the garage and engineers touched his car.A quick response from Ferrari saw Leclerc ensure he didn't fall foul of regulations, which proved to be crucial as he went on to secure pole position for the race, but the same fortune didn't fall upon Brundle during his time on the F1 grid.In the 1991 Monaco Grand Prix, Brundle was reprimanded after not making it to the weigh bridge but he had a decent excuse, as the marshal operating the lights informing drivers they need to be weighed was not doing his job after he was run over."The reason I got sent home was because the man who was operating the lights, his foot got run over by Nigel Mansell and he stopped operating the light.

Apparently, that's not a good enough reason," he explained during Sky Sports' qualifying coverage."Charlie Whiting came up with me in my defence to say 'look, this happened' this is why Martin didn't see the light' but anyway, I literally got sent home from that Grand Prix."HAVE YOUR SAY!
