Manchester United great Gary Neville has called on top Premier League players to lead the fight against coronavirus as the pandemic continues to take hold of sport and wider society.
Speaking on The Debate this evening, the Sky Sports pundit and former United defender outlined what he labels as a ‘massive opportunity’ for top-flight stars to show they are not in football purely for the money.
Neville, who chalked up eight Premier League titles during his time at Old Trafford, has also applauded the decision to suspend all matches until April 30.
He feels that it will give clubs – and football’s governing bodies – enough time to fully assess the economic damage that faces them in the aftermath of the COVID-19 outbreak.
