Football pundit and ex-Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher believes the final months of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign were “shambolic” after the manager was relieved of his duties at Manchester United on Sunday.

Solskjaer, 48, was dismissed following a poor run of form for his side in the league, winning just once in the last seven Premier League matches.

A 5-0 loss to Liverpool was followed up with a poor 2-0 defeat against near-neighbours Manchester City. There was a two-week break for international football, but fortunes didn’t change as United slumped to a 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Watford.
