Manchester funeral director jailed after nicking charity cash collections from five different funerals

Andrew Pearson, 53, had arranged and conducted each of the funerals, and personally oversaw the collections for the different charities, including Macmillan Cancer support.

However, as time went on and the grieving families didn’t receive confirmation of their donations, suspicions were raised. It was later discovered that Pearson, of Blackley, had pocketed the cash, Minshull Street Crown Court heard.

The total amount taken is unknown. Pearson pleaded guilty earlier this year to five offences of theft and has now been jailed for 12
