The man, aged 37, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene on Rochdale Old Road after being hit by a car at around 5.30pm last night (Tuesday).

The driver of the car assisted officers and no arrests have been made, police said. The man's family have been informed. It has now been confirmed that before the crash, he was taken to hospital by police officers following 'an earlier unrelated incident'.
