Attention will now turn to recruitment, with just a week remaining for United to wrap up the last of their transfer dealings - and one deal continues to dominate.
United’s pursuit of Jadon Sancho has dragged on for months, and a failure to conclude a deal before October 5 means the Englishman will stay in Germany until the new year.
For now, though, United can only boast one senior signing in this window - former Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek - and are running out of time to add to that.
