Manchester United are hoping to get the green light to welcome 12,000 fans back into Old Trafford for their opening Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace.
Club chiefs are due to hold a meeting with the relevant authorities this Thursday to determine whether they can press ahead with a trial run for the match on September 19.
As reported by The Athletic, United's aim is to increase the capacity in following matches providing the test run is successful and does not pose any safety risks.
After the Palace fixture United then host Tottenham two weeks later and are keen to have boosted the number of fans allowed inside Old Trafford in time for that clash.
