Former Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar says Donny van de Beek reminds him of his ex-teammate Paul Scholes. Van de Beek joined the Red Devils from Ajax in a £40m deal last month, and he is set to make his Premier League debut in the game against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Van der Sar knows the player well from his role as chief executive officer at the Dutch club, and speaking to United's Group Chat he said there are elements to the 23-year-old's game that are similar to that of the legendary Scholes. “He can play in different positions in midfield – he can be a six or an eight or a 10, he has a great eye for a goal," Van der Sar said.
