Police are stepping patrols after a man had to be taken to hospital following an unprovoked attack in broad daylight in Oldham.
The 45 year-old was set upon in a wooded area behind Cairo Mill on Greenacres Road in Waterhead just after 1pm on Thursday afternoon.
He suffered a nasty facial injury and for which he was rushed to hospital, however he has now been discharged Greater Manchester Police say.
Detectives have described it as an unprovoked attack on an innocent man. but said they believe it was an "isolated incident." They have however increased patrols in the area.
