Leigh, at about 7.05am this morning. Only one vehicle, a silver Ford Transit, was involved in the smash which happened outside Leigh Fire Station.A man in his early 50s was cut free from the van by firefighters.He was rushed to hospital with serious head injuries.A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service said: "We were called to a one-vehicle collision in St Helens Road."We attended with an advanced paramedic and an ambulance."The patient has been taken to hospital with a serious head injury.
