A man has been taken to hospital with gunshot wounds following a shooting in south Manchester. Armed police descended on Copthorne Street in Longsight this evening, after reports that a man had been shot shortly after 7.20pm.

No further details about his condition have been released at this stage. Detectives have launched an investigation into the shooting and so far no arrests have been made.
