Joseph T. Johnson, 33, is accused of breaking into a woman's home in Wyandanch, New York, where he raped and strangled her before stealing money as he left.

The woman installed surveillance cameras in and around her home after the attack but two days later, she was alerted to the fact the devices had been turned off.

Suffolk County District Attorney, Timothy Sini, said the cameras were found to have been damaged or turned away from the home.
