mirror.co.ukLove Island has been cancelled for the first time ever. The ITV2 dating show has been pulled from the summer schedule after bosses confirmed that coronavirus poses too big a risk.
TV execs have said that the show can't go ahead as the safety of contestants cannot be guaranteed amid the global COVID-19 pandemic.
But they have promised that the show will be back and "stronger than ever" in 2021. Kevin Lygo, Director of Television at ITV, said: "We have tried every which way to make Love Island this summer but logistically it's just not possible to produce it in a way that safeguards the wellbeing of everyone involved and that for us is the priority.
