Love Island cancelled as ITV bosses confirm coronavirus risk is too high

Love Island has been cancelled for the first time ever. The ITV2 dating show has been pulled from the summer schedule after bosses confirmed that coronavirus poses too big a risk.

TV execs have said that the show can't go ahead as the safety of contestants cannot be guaranteed amid the global COVID-19 pandemic.

But they have promised that the show will be back and "stronger than ever" in 2021. Kevin Lygo, Director of Television at ITV, said: "We have tried every which way to make Love Island this summer but logistically it's just not possible to produce it in a way that safeguards the wellbeing of everyone involved and that for us is the priority.
