Tolkien's book and briefly reprised the role for the Hobbit prequel trilogy.Peter recounted how Ian initially turned down the Hobbit job because of his decline from Parkinson's disease, but that arrangements were eventually made for him to be able to do it, resulting in 'a wonderful actor delivering his last performance.
