'Really sad!' Former Holby City star Lisa Faulkner speaks out on BBC decision to axe show
Lisa Faulkner, 50, has spoken out about the BBC’s decision to end Holby City for good back in March, after 23 years on the air.The former Celebrity MasterChef winner, who is married to the show’s judge John Torode, 57, admitted she was “really sad” to see the soap get axed, in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk. Lisa played Victoria Merrick on the show from January 1999 to June 2001.Victoria was a senior house officer who trained in cardiothoracic surgery and paediatrics at Holby City Hospital. Two years after joining the show, Lisa’s character was stabbed to death in her own home by the father of a patient whose life she could not save. The star appeared in 45 episodes of the show early on in her acting career, which meant it was a strange thing for the celebrity chef to hear it had been cancelled.Speaking about when she heard the news, Lisa reflected: “Yeah, it was really sad. “I think it’s such a great show and, for me and my two best friends…“You know, I met Angela (Griffin) and Nicola (Stephenson) on that show and we have been best friends ever since. “So to me, it’s been a really important show in my life,” she added.Apart from her job as a TV chef, Lisa is also known for her previous roles on soaps such as Brookside, where she played Louise Hope, and EastEnders, where she played Fi Browning. However, she’s also enjoyed some more recent roles, such as Murdoch Mysteries and BBC One’s The Girl Before.Speaking about her future in the world of television, Lisa explained: “You know, it’s really nice to be going up for auditions again, playing small parts in nice dramas. “It’s just been fun doing the auditioning again and getting the jobs.

Holby City's Lisa Faulkner's 'so sad' BBC show is ending after meeting 'best friends'
BBC One prepares to air the last ever episode of Holby City having been on telly screens since 1999.The actress appeared as Pre-Registration House Nurse Victoria Merrick in the first episode way back in 1999, before becoming a surgeon and later left in series three, episode 30 back in 2001.Her character struggled to cope with the high pressure of being in surgery and also struggled to live up to her dad's expectations as he was a well-known surgeon.Despite meeting some of her closest friends on the show and having the time of her life, she requested that her character had a "gruesome death", a decision she says she later regrets.Speaking exclusively to the Daily Star from the Ideal Home Show, she said: "I can't believe they've stopped it, I'm really sad."I met my two best friends on it, we were there on the first day of filming and what an amazing, amazing job it was, it was just so fantastic."To be there at the beginning and to meet my two best mates, I have very fond memories of Holby City and I'm very sad it's over."She went on to add: "I think I was doing it 20 something years ago or something, it's really scary, it was a completely different thing back then, I think it was a real household for years."There's just been so many great people."The mum-of-one continued: "I did the first three series of it, so it was very different – when we first started, we had huge viewing figures, everyone loved it, we were very lucky with the people we worked with."We didn't know it was ever going to last for over 20 years but it's been a lovely show to be a part of."I worked with George Irving who played my dad and he's such a fantastic actor and then Siobhan Redmond, she became my boss when they opened the children's unit."We used
