Former Premier League and PSG ace has leg amputated after ‘effects of playing career’
Premier League and PSG ace Bruno Rodriguez has had his leg amputated due to the effects of his football career. The former Bradford City forward, 49, made just two top-flight appearances for The Bantams on a season-long loan from the Parisian giants in 1999.Retiring from football in 2005, the Frenchman has been in constant pain since hanging up his boots and has finally ended the suffering by opting to remove the lower half of his leg.The news was confirmed by The Union Nationale des Footballeurs Professionnels (UNFP) in a statement on Saturday (March 12).It read: "He was one of the strikers who marked our football from the early 90s to the heart of the 2000s."@UNFP sends strength and courage to Bruno Rodriguez, who had to, after the effects of his football career, resolve to the amputation of a leg by dint of permanent suffering."Spending most of his playing days in his homeland, the Bastia-born striker had spells at Monaco, Strasbourg and Metz before signing for PSG in 1999.Clearly not favoured by manager Philippe Bergeroo, Rodriguez was shipped out on loan to Bradford in September for a loan fee of £500,000.HAVE YOUR SAY! How Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe was finally caught after fooling police 9 times
ITV's new gripping documentary Yorkshire Ripper: The Secret Murders re-examines the case of notorious serial killer Peter Sutcliffe. The former lorry driver was found guilty of murdering at least 13 women in the late 1970s and early 1980s.The two-part series explores the horrific crimes and how Sutcliffe was able to continue his killing spree and go undetected for so long.Sutcliffe was interviewed and let out nine times during the investigation, but all the police had about the case was in paper form, making it hard to cross-reference.At his Old Bailey trial, Sutcliffe said: "It was just a miracle they did not apprehend me earlier - they had all the facts."So how was the Yorkshire Ripper finally caught? Here we take a closer look.Sutcliffe was finally arrested on January 2 1981, but it was several days before they revealed him to be the serial killer. He was caught in a car in Melbourne Avenue, an area known for being the Sheffield's red light district, with a 24-year-old prostitute called Olivia Reivers. The pair were parked in the drive way of Light Trades House when two officers decided to investigate because the car they were in had false number plates. While at Dewsbury Police Station he was also questioned in relation to the Ripper case, due to his physical likeness. The next day police officers returned to the scene of arrest and found a knife, hammer and rope which had been discarded when Sutcliffe had told them he was "bursting to pee".The officers also searched his car and found screwdrivers in the glove compartment.

Bad Boy Chiller Crew have launched a new ‘fans for foodbanks’ initiative at their gigs. The Bradford trio (made up of MCs Kane, Clive and GK), launched the initiative last week (February 18) in Manchester at local venue Gorilla, with gig-goers bringing non-perishable foods along to the gigs to donate to a local food bank. All last week’s donated food went to The Trussell Trust-approved Manchester Central Foodbank, with the band personally delivering the items there after the show.A statement said: “…The band have seen the all-too-real effects of extreme poverty in the UK having grown up on estates in Bradford where food banks are a vital part of the community.“The damaging effects of the pandemic have caused food bank usage to rise to an all time high and the trio wish to make a difference, trialling this donation initiative at their recent Manchester show.”Now, there are plans to roll out the scheme during their upcoming Spring 2022 tour that begins this April.Fans who bring items for the food bank along to the gigs will be rewarded with limited-edition signed posters and a promise from the band to match all monetary donations made at the show. You can see the full list of BBCC’s upcoming UK tour dates here.
