Lizzo went to social media on Monday to announce the release of an updated version of her single “GRRRLS” to remove an ableist slur included in the original song.“It’s been brought to my attention that there is a harmful word in my new song ‘GRRRLS,’” she wrote in a Twitter post. “Let me make one thing clear: I never want to promote derogatory language.

This is the result of me listening and taking action. As an influential artist I’m dedicated to being part of the change I’ve been waiting to see in the world.”❤️ pic.twitter.com/QH6WufEjGhAccording to NBCNews, the Grammy Award-winning artist released the highly anticipated single last Friday, and it was met with criticism from disability advocates on social media.
